KRALENDIJK – CBS Caribbean Netherlands is urging residents to be alert to a message currently circulating on social media. The message warns about individuals who allegedly pose as employees of a statistical office in order to collect personal data, photos, or biometric information.

According to CBS Caribbean Netherlands, there is currently no evidence that such individuals are active on Bonaire. The message has been circulating for some time across various countries and parts of the Caribbean, with its content being adapted to local circumstances each time.

CBS emphasizes that employees conducting statistical surveys always notify selected households and businesses in advance, and can identify themselves during a visit with an official CBS identification card bearing their name and photo. In addition, CBS never requests biometric data, such as fingerprints, and no photos are taken of individuals or their identity documents as part of statistical research.

Residents who doubt the identity of someone claiming to work on behalf of CBS are advised not to provide any personal data until the person’s identity has been verified.
