KRALENDIJK – Tourism Corporation Bonaire (TCB), in collaboration with Carnival Horizon, the Port Authority of Bonaire and Buki di Prèt, organized the event ‘Bonaire Cruise Adventure for Kids’, giving a group of children from Bonaire the opportunity to visit and explore life on board a cruise ship.
During the visit, the children explored various parts of the ship, learned about the operational side of cruise tourism and enjoyed an educational day that was also packed with fun.
TCB Director Elesiër Angel noted that this initiative demonstrates how tourism can also benefit the local community, by offering children a unique experience that many of them would otherwise probably never have had.
Carnival Horizon welcomed the group on board with a special program, including a guided tour and a lunch. The safety and well-being of the children were the top priority throughout the entire event.
Relationship with the local community
According to TCB, initiatives like these help strengthen the bond between tourism and the local community by promoting education, awareness and shared experiences.
