LITTLE BAY – Premier and Minister of Finance of Montserrat, Reuben T. Meade, has announced that construction on the long-delayed Port Development Project will visibly resume by the end of July.
Speaking at a town-hall in Lookout, Meade said new equipment is expected to arrive shortly and that the government has amended its contract with Meridian Construction.
A joint account is being set up to improve financial oversight, and the British Government is sending a marine engineer to support the project. While acknowledging public frustration, Meade emphasized the government’s commitment: “We’re not distancing ourselves from it. This is our project, and we’ll make sure it gets completed.”
