Fire engines a common sight on St. Eustatius during upcoming BKCN training

ORANJESTAD, St. Eustatius- From 12 October through 23 October, the Caribbean Netherlands Fire Department (BKCN) will have a more visible presence on St. Eustatius. During this period, several practical training exercises will take place as part of the second component of the firefighter driver training program, which focuses on pump operation.
During these exercises, participants will learn how to safely and responsibly perform the duties of a pump operator. The pump operator ensures that the fire engine is safely and quickly positioned at the correct location and operates the pump and other firefighting systems during an emergency response.
During this period, BKCN will regularly be visible at various locations across St. Eustatius that will be used as training sites. As a result, fire engines and training activities may be visible in the surrounding areas.
The training sessions will take place from Monday through Friday, between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.
BKCN asks road users and residents in the surrounding areas to take the training exercises into account and to follow any instructions given.
