THE BOTTOM/ORANJESTAD — ING expects to make a final decision in the coming months on whether to expand its banking services to Saba and St. Eustatius, with a possible launch by the end of 2026 if the outcome is positive.

The announcement follows the opening this week of the first cash machines installed by De Nederlandsche Bank (DNB) on both islands as part of an initiative to improve access to cash. DNB is adding four ATMs on each island, complementing the existing commercial bank machines.

ING said the expansion is being carefully assessed because of the unique legal and financial position of the Caribbean Netherlands, including its de facto third-country status and the use of the US dollar.

No more fixed transaction fees

In a move that takes immediate effect, ING also announced that it will no longer charge fixed transaction fees for ING customers using the new DNB ATMs on Saba and St. Eustatius. The bank said the decision supports efforts to improve financial services for residents of the two islands.

Easier access to cash

The new DNB ATMs dispense U.S. dollars and are intended to improve the availability, accessibility and affordability of cash for residents, businesses and visitors.
