ARNHEM – Claims organisation EUclaim has been declared bankrupt by the court in Arnhem. The company helps airline passengers obtain compensation following flight delays and cancellations. The cause of the bankruptcy is not yet known.
It also remains unclear what the bankruptcy means for travellers who have already filed a claim through EUclaim. The administrator and the company were not reachable for comment on Tuesday.
EUclaim was still fully active earlier this year when winter weather at Schiphol led to large numbers of cancelled and delayed flights. The company acts on behalf of passengers against airlines when they are entitled to financial compensation under European regulations.
According to EUclaim, the organisation has helped nearly 850,000 passengers during its nineteen years of operation. The company was founded in 2007 by Hendrik Noorderhaven, with the aim of actively enforcing passenger rights against airlines.
The bankruptcy raises questions in particular about ongoing cases. It is not yet clear whether those claims will be continued by the administrator, transferred to another party, or settled in some other way.
