KRALENDIJK – Tourism Corporation Bonaire (TCB) and Fundashon Formashon Pa Mañan (FORMA) have signed a cooperation agreement to further strengthen the training of tour guides on Bonaire. The agreement was signed on May 12 by FORMA director Soraida T. Mensche-Statius and TCB director Elesiër Angel.

Through this cooperation, TCB officially recognizes FORMA’s course ‘Bonaire in Depth and Guiding Skills’. The training has been offered for several years and focuses on preparing guides to lead visitors responsibly while informing them about the history, culture and nature of Bonaire.

The course material was originally developed by Sue Felix. Her work still forms the foundation of the knowledge passed on to future tour guides during the training.

The importance of well-trained guides

According to TCB, qualified tour guides play an important role in the visitor experience on the island. With the official recognition of the training, the organization aims to contribute to the further professionalization of the tourism sector.

“Tour guides are essential in the way visitors experience Bonaire. They carry our stories, our history and our connection with nature,” said Elesiër Angel, director of TCB.

TCB and FORMA say the cooperation confirms their joint commitment to further strengthening Bonaire’s tourism sector and offering visitors a meaningful experience on the island.
