ORANJESTAD - The Aruban government has launched the new online platform Taxi.aw, allowing travelers to calculate and verify official taxi fares themselves. The new rates have been in effect since May 20.

Through the website, users can download and calculate current taxi fares using a so-called Taxi Fare Calculator. The tool takes into account various factors that affect the fare, such as the number of passengers, luggage, use of the trunk, public holidays, and night surcharges between 11:00 PM and 7:00 AM.

According to the government, the platform makes taxi costs more transparent for passengers and easier to verify for both tourists and residents. Users can also see exactly how the final price of a trip is calculated.

The platform is also intended to provide practical support to the taxi industry and the tourism sector. Via Taxi.aw, official documents, terms and conditions, and rules for taxi services can be downloaded. Posters, flyers, and QR codes for use in taxis, hotels, restaurants, at the airport, and other tourist locations are also available through the website.

An additional feature of the platform is that users can submit complaints online about service quality or taxi fares.
