
PHILIPSBURG, St. Maarten – Police impounded 16 scooters during a targeted traffic enforcement operation on Saturday, July 11, aimed at addressing reckless riding and traffic violations.
The KPSM Flex Team inspected 120 vehicles at several locations across the island, including A.J.C. Brouwers Road, Welfare Road and L.B. Scott Road. Officers also checked 24 scooters, with 16 found in violation of traffic regulations.
Violations included riding without a helmet, driving without the proper licence, lacking valid insurance, inspection or road tax, and displaying improper licence plates. Nine vehicles were also searched under the National Opium Ordinance.
Improving road safety
KPSM said enforcement will continue and warned that vehicles found in violation of traffic laws may be fined and impounded as part of ongoing efforts to improve road safety.
