AMSTERDAM/THE BOTTOM - On 30 March 2026, PostNL is releasing ‘Beleef de natuur – Vlinders Saba’ (Experience Nature – Saba’s Butterflies), a stamp sheet featuring ten different designs, each showcasing one of the butterfly species found on the island. The stamps carry a face value of 1, valid for standard mail up to 20 grams within the Netherlands.
Ten butterfly species native to Saba take centre stage on the new sheet: the Dorantes Longtail, Mangrove Buckeye, Orange Passion-flower Butterfly, Caribbean Duskywing, Ruddy Daggerwing, Cassius Blue, Zebra Longwing, Tropical White, Orcus Checkered-Skipper and Red Rim. Together they illustrate the remarkable biodiversity that Saba — and the other islands of the Caribbean Netherlands — has to offer.
The butterfly sheet is the second in PostNL’s multi-year ‘Beleef de natuur’ series, which runs from 2024 to 2026 and is dedicated to the Caribbean Netherlands. Each year, four stamp sheets are published, each featuring ten different plant or animal species from the region. In 2026, the series focuses exclusively on Saba: birds (released on 5 January), butterflies, underwater life and flora are each given their own sheet throughout the year.
