THE BOTTOM, Saba — Saba is preparing for a series of fuel transports linked to the Mt. Scenery Tower project. Jet-A helicopter fuel will be moved from the harbour to the airport over the coming weeks.
The fuel will be transported by a local contractor along public roads, primarily during early morning and evening hours to minimise disruption to traffic. Convoys are expected to run several times a week, with frequency depending on flight activity connected to the project.
Each transport will be escorted, with accompanying vehicles carrying fire extinguishers and spill-control materials. Fuel will be stored at designated secure locations equipped with fire protection and containment systems.
Watch out on the road
Motorists are advised to exercise caution when encountering a convoy and to follow instructions from escort vehicles. The Mt. Scenery Tower project involves helicopter operations at altitude, requiring significant fuel logistics on the island’s narrow road network.
