KRALENDIJK – On Bonaire Day, September 6, 2026, James Finies officially launched the Partido Pueblo Progresivo (PPP). The new party presents itself as an inclusive political movement under the motto ‘Every Resident Comes First’.

During the launch, the PPP presented a preliminary election programme. The party focuses on issues such as the high cost of living, affordable housing and rental prices, water and electricity, healthcare, education and employment. Additional topics on the agenda include opportunities for young people, support for the elderly, good governance and sustainable economic development.

Part of the programme is an exhibition covering the 1,165 days — over three years — that Finies spent on international stages to draw attention to Bonaire’s constitutional status. The exhibition features photos and documents from his activities at regional and international forums, including the United Nations.

The launch takes place at 6:00 PM at Kaya Libertador Simón Bolívar 26. The event is free and open to everyone.

Finies has long advocated for Bonaire to be included on the UN list of non-self-governing territories. With the founding of the PPP, this ambition now also becomes an official political priority.
