Saba Governor meets Saban community on Sint Maarten

PHILIPSBURG, Sint Maarten – Island Governor Jocelyn Levenstone met with members of the Saban community living in Sint Maarten on Saturday, July 18, during a special gathering marking his appointment.

Levenstone thanked those present for their support and emphasized the strong ties connecting Sabans at home and abroad. He reflected on the role the Sint Maarten community played in his own development and praised Sabans who have built successful careers on the island.

The Governor also appealed to Sabans living abroad to consider returning home, saying Saba needs their skills and experience to support its future development.

Several community members were recognized, including Allen Busby and Loretta Richardson, two of the oldest Sabans present. Donovan Smith was highlighted as an example of the younger generation of Saban professionals. Former Lieutenant Governor Wycliffe Smith and Saba flag designer Eddie Johnson also attended.

The evening concluded with the singing of the Saba Anthem.
