Executive Council of Bonaire establishes new portfolio distribution following Joselito Statia’s departure

KRALENDIJK – The Executive Council has established a new distribution of portfolios following the departure of Commissioner Joselito Statia. The redistribution is intended to safeguard continuity of governance and the execution of administrative duties. The new responsibilities were determined during the Executive Council meeting of July 1.
Commissioner Jennifer Mohamedjoenoes will take charge of the directorates Business Operations & Support and Supervision & Enforcement. Her portfolio includes, among other things, the policy areas of public finance and taxation, intergovernmental and regional affairs, economy and sustainable tourism, remigration, and real estate and housing.
Commissioner Timoteo Silberie will oversee the directorates Society & Care and Space & Development. His portfolio covers, among other areas, education and school housing, sports and recreation, public healthcare, spatial planning, infrastructure and water management, as well as nature, the environment, and ecological restoration.
Island Governor John Soliano remains chairman of both the Executive Council and the Island Council, as well as the General Meeting of Shareholders for the Governement-owned companies. He retains responsibility for the policy areas of good governance, public order and safety, and crisis management and disaster response.
Substitution
The Executive Council has further stipulated that the two Commissioners will temporarily substitute for one another in the event of absence, ensuring that administrative operations can continue without interruption.
