WILLEMSTAD – A group of 23 recruits has completed the four-week introductory period of the Basic Training Police and Coast Guard (BOPK) and is now beginning the two-year training programme.
The group consists of 13 recruits from the Coast Guard, five from the Caribbean Netherlands Police Corps (KPCN) and five from the Sint Maarten Police Corps (KPSM).
During the introductory period ‘Huntu Mas Fuerte’ (Papiamentu for ‘Stronger Together’), the focus was on physical and mental resilience, discipline, personal development and teamwork. The period concluded with a final training exercise, followed by a joint arrival at the Parera Naval Base on Curaçao.
Over the next two years, the recruits will follow a training programme covering subjects including professional knowledge, operational skills, integrity and cooperation. The programme prepares them for a future role with the Coast Guard, KPCN or KPSM.
