Caribbean Crime Analysts Strengthen Regional Cooperation at Santo Domingo Meeting

SANTO DOMINGO – More than forty crime analysts from around twenty Caribbean jurisdictions met in Santo Domingo for the third Regional Network Meeting for Crime Analysts (RNA), organized by the Board of Chiefs of Police of the Dutch Caribbean. Under the theme Strategic Insights, the meeting emphasized that cross-border crime can only be tackled through strong regional cooperation.
Opening remarks by Deputy Ambassador Leonne van Vlimmeren, DNCD head Vice Admiral Cabrera Ulloa and Curaçao Police Chief Raymond Ellis highlighted the importance of shared intelligence and trust between islands. Over three days, analysts presented a broad overview of regional crime trends, including firearms incidents, homicide patterns, drug flows, youth violence, coastal vulnerabilities, cyber-enabled crime and the impact of digital platforms.
Expert speakers from GI-TOC, CARICOM IMPACS, the Jamaica Constabulary Force and FIU Aruba placed these developments into wider geopolitical, technological and financial contexts, stressing links between drug trafficking, firearms, gangs and cybercrime.
Renewed commitment
The meeting concluded with a renewed commitment to expand the RNA as a permanent platform, reinforcing the message that regional threats require regional solutions.
