KRALENDIJK - Bonaire, Saba and Sint Eustatius are joining the fight against organized crime in the Kingdom. This was confirmed during the September Judicial Four-Party Consultation.
The three islands are dealing with drug trafficking, money laundering and organized crime. By working together, they can better exchange information and take administrative measures. Ministers view the participation as logical and valuable.
What is being examined?
The working group is evaluating the current protocol between Aruba, Curaçao and Sint Maarten. The approach may be adapted or expanded. This involves strengthening administrative instruments: revoking permits, tackling criminal infrastructure and improving cooperation between local and Kingdom services.
The Ministry of Justice and Security considers the expansion important. The three islands are also part of regional smuggling routes and regularly experience the consequences of international crime.
The results will be discussed during the next Judicial Four-Party Consultation.
