KRALENDIJK - The Puerto Rican dancer who waved the Bonaire flag during Bad Bunny’s halftime show is coming to the island this weekend. Tourism Corporation Bonaire launched a successful social media campaign to find and invite the man, following an idea from a local resident.
After Bad Bunny’s spectacular Super Bowl performance, where the Bonaire flag was prominently featured, a local resident came up with the idea to bring the enthusiastic flag bearer to the island. Tourism Corporation Bonaire picked up on this initiative and posted a video on Instagram and Facebook with the call: "Who is this man? We want to bring him to Bonaire to thank him."
The campaign proved to be a bullseye. The video was shared widely and within fifteen minutes, the dancer’s identity had been discovered. It turned out to be Emmanuel Lopez Alonso, a dancer from Puerto Rico who was part of the massive cast that accompanied Bad Bunny during his performance.
Warm welcome
In a social media post, Tourism Corporation Bonaire announced that the search had been successfully completed. "You asked and we delivered. We found the flag guy! Meet Emmanuel, the man who carried our flag with pride during Bad Bunny’s Super Bowl halftime show," the organization stated.
Emmanuel arrives on Bonaire this weekend. The tourism board is calling on island residents to give him a warm welcome. For Tourism Corporation Bonaire, the campaign was a successful marketing stunt that generated significant attention for the island.
