KRALENDIJK – On Friday, International Day of Older Persons, the Public Entity of Bonaire (PEB) paid tribute to the contribution older people make to the Bonaire community.
Commissioner Timoteo Silberie (Directorate of Society & Care) addressed a message to all elderly residents of Bonaire.
“I see it as my responsibility to work towards a Bonaire where everyone can grow old with respect and the support they need. You helped build the Bonaire we know today. You worked, cared for your families and shared your knowledge with the new generations,” Silberie said.
The deputy called on the entire community to keep paying attention to the elderly throughout the year, and not only on this day. “A visit, a phone call, a conversation, or simply taking a moment to listen to them can mean a great deal,” Silberie emphasized.
