KRALENDIJK – Employers on Bonaire can, starting from the 2025/2026 academic year, apply for a subsidy for the first time for supervising a student or trainee in the workplace. The application period runs from 1 to 17 September 2026.
Through the Practical Learning Subsidy Scheme, employers receive a contribution towards the costs of supervision during vocational training. This covers placements for employees or students in a BBL programme (Work-Based Learning Route: a vocational pathway in which the student works four days a week and attends school one day), students in a VMBO work-learning track, and trainees in the final year of practical education. The aim is for more people to gain practical experience and enter the labour market better prepared.
To be eligible, the training company must be accredited by the ROA, there must be a traineeship or practical learning placement in place, and the student must be enrolled at an accredited MBO, VMBO, or practical education institution.
The subsidy is paid out retrospectively and can be applied for at the counter of the Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO) in Kralendijk. From 1 to 17 September, RVO will be present at the following times:

RVO administers the scheme on behalf of the Ministry of Education, Culture and Science. That ministry has decided that the scheme will also become available on Sint Eustatius and Saba from the 2026/2027 academic year.
