KRALENDIJK – A new heavy waste compactor from the Finnish brand TANA has arrived on Bonaire. The machine is intended for processing and compressing waste at a landfill site.
The striking yellow-and-black machine was transported across the island by truck on Monday. TANA builds special landfill compactors that drive over waste with wide steel drums and large teeth. This not only flattens the waste, but also shreds and compresses it more tightly together.
According to manufacturer TANA, the design allows a landfill to be used more efficiently, as the waste is compacted more densely. Depending on the model, the machines weigh between approximately 26 and 55 tonnes.
