KRALENDIJK – The Council for Education and the Labor Market (Raad Onderwijs Arbeidsmarkt, ROA CN) has been in existence for 15 years as of September 29. The organization, founded in 2011, focuses on connecting vocational education with the labor market in the Caribbean Netherlands.
On Bonaire, the anniversary was celebrated with live broadcasts on Breezy FM and Live99FM, in which various guests shared their experiences with ROA CN and the developments in education and the labor market over the past 15 years. Around 150 people attended the event at the office, while approximately 300 people took part in an online survey.
Among the guests were ROA CN’s first chairman, Herbert Domacassé, former colleagues, current chairman Mervyn Steegers, director Elyane Nicolaas, and several partners and representatives of accredited training companies.
ROA CN accredits training companies, supports and certifies mentors, and advises on the connection between education and the labor market. The organization also promotes the BBL pathway, which combines work and study.
Saba and Sint Eustatius officially joined ROA CN on February 6, 2012. For that reason, the organization will continue to mark its 15th anniversary until February 6, 2027, with various activities on Bonaire, Statia and Saba.
