Flamingo Airport looks back on large-scale rescue exercise at sea

KRALENDIJK – Bonaire International Airport (BIA) has published a video report of the large-scale exercise Rescue at Sea, which took place on 4 June in the waters near the airport. With the publication, the airport looks back on the exercise, which according to BIA was completed successfully.

The so-called Full Scale Exercise was carried out between 9:00 and 11:00 AM and simulated a rescue operation at sea. A wide range of emergency services and organizations participated in the exercise, including the police, fire brigade, customs, coast guard, Royal Military Police, the Public Entity Bonaire, Fundashon Mariadal, the harbourmaster, and air traffic service provider DC-ANSP.

According to BIA, the exercise focused on strengthening cooperation, communication, and crisis response among all parties involved. Such exercises are intended to ensure that emergency services and airport organizations are well prepared for potential emergency situations.

In a response, BIA thanked all participating organizations, operational teams, volunteers, and other contributors for their dedication, professionalism, and cooperation. The airport emphasizes that regular training is essential to ensure the safety of passengers, staff, and other airport users.
