
KRALENDIJK - Bonaire has won eleven awards at the Scuba Diving Readers’ Choice Awards 2026. For the 33rd consecutive year, the island has crowned itself the best shore diving destination in the Caribbean and Atlantic Ocean.
Scuba Diving magazine announced the results in its November 2025 issue. Bonaire achieved six first, second, and third places across various categories.
First places for beginners and snorkelers
The island won first place for beginner diving and snorkeling. Bonaire also secured second place for underwater photography and macro photography. For advanced diving, the island finished in third place.
Furthermore, Bonaire placed in the top 5 for best overall and in the top 10 for marine environment health and best value for money. The island also received recognition as one of the best destinations for shore diving and wreck diving.
Protecting underwater treasures
"For 33 years, Bonaire has set the standard for shore diving. These accolades reflect not only our pristine reefs, but also our community’s passion for protecting and sharing the island’s underwater treasures," says Elesiër Angel, director of Tourism Corporation Bonaire.
