KRALENDIJK – In his address on Bonaire Day, Island Governor John Soliano underlined that the island is “rich in opportunities,” but stressed that it is up to the people of Bonaire to make use of them. He called for personal dedication as well as joint investment in families, neighborhoods, and government institutions.

A key part of Soliano’s speech focused on the island’s youth. He noted that the vast majority of young people are making positive contributions and excelling in sports, culture, education, and entrepreneurship. According to the Island Governor, they deserve space and trust so that their talents can support Bonaire’s development.

“Our future is rich in opportunities, but every day we must choose to invest in it—with trust, respect, and attention to one another,” Soliano said. He concluded his speech with the words: “Nos ta Boneiru, i nos futuro ta briante” (We are Bonaire, and our future is bright).
