KRALENDIJK – To maintain the unit’s readiness and operational capabilities, the 48th Army Company, stationed in Curaçao, will conduct a military exercise on Bonaire. The exercise will take place from Wednesday, April 9 through Wednesday, April 16, 2025.

The purpose of the exercise is to familiarize the unit with Bonaire’s environment and to strengthen cooperation with local authorities and emergency services. By training in a realistic manner within the Bonairian context, the unit remains well-prepared for operational tasks in the Caribbean region.

In addition to military training activities, the unit will also engage in community-oriented efforts on the island. They will carry out support tasks that benefit the Bonairian community.

As a bivouac location, the unit will use the facilities and grounds of the scouting association in Rincon. Training activities will also take place at established exercise locations on the island. All soldiers will be thoroughly briefed in advance and will take into account lessons from previous exercises to minimize disturbance to residents.

Courtesy Visit

The unit’s commander, Lieutenant Colonel Kjell Koster, along with Sergeant Major Joost van Heijningen, liaison officer on behalf of the headquarters, will pay a courtesy visit to local authorities in the lead-up to the exercise. Any questions or further details about the training can be discussed with them.
