KRALENDIJK - Bonaire International Airport (BIA) has once again received the safety certificate from the Inspectorate for the Living Environment and Transport (ILT). The certificate is valid for three years and confirms that Flamingo Airport meets the legal requirements for safe airport operations.
Extensive prior assessment
The ILT grants the certificate based on the Aviation Supervision Decree BES. Prior to certification, the inspectorate conducted an extensive review of the safety management system, operational procedures, training programmes, working methods, and compliance with laws and regulations. The certificate covers airport infrastructure, operational processes, safety management, and daily airport operations.
Investment in professionalisation
Operations Director Giordano Molina emphasises the significance of the certificate: "Safety is the foundation of everything we do. This result is thanks to the daily dedication and professionalism of our staff and the strong collaboration with our partners at the airport."
In recent years, BIA has invested significantly in the professionalisation of the organisation and its safety processes. "The renewal of this certificate is a wonderful confirmation that these efforts are paying off and that we as an organisation continue to meet the highest safety standards," said Molina.
Foundation for further growth
With the renewed certificate in hand, BIA aims to continue building a future-proof airport. In the coming years, the airport will invest in infrastructure, innovation, and the further development of the organisation. Safety for passengers, employees, and all other airport users remains the guiding principle throughout.
