KRALENDIJK – Jolinda Craane and Jeny Molina of JCI YUB organised an information session on Saturday about riding fat bikes safely. Children and young people were warmly welcome — and they showed up in numbers.

At the Public Library of Bonaire, dozens of young fat bikers gathered for the afternoon. Two police officers explained the traffic rules and highlighted important points of attention for fat bikers on the road.

Andrew Tweeboom of Nynedroid Driving School was also present. He walked the youngsters through intersections and right-of-way rules, and used traffic signs to explain what each road situation requires of them.

Hitting the road together

After the theory came the practice: together with the officers, the youngsters took to the road to apply what they had learned. A successful afternoon that will hopefully bear fruit in Bonairean traffic.
