KRALENDIJK – The Salú Sin Miedu 2026 campaign has kicked off on Bonaire with an HIV walk. On Wednesday 7 October, an open day on HIV and sexual health will follow at Fundashon Mariadal.
Residents are welcome on Wednesday 7 October from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the Blue Patio of Fundashon Mariadal. There they can get information on prevention and freely ask questions about HIV, STIs and sexual health. Admission is free.
The open day is for anyone who wants to learn more or talk to experts.
Research into HIV stigma: participants wanted
Alongside the activities, research into HIV stigma and discrimination on Bonaire is under way. The Alliance wants to gain better insight into the experiences and views within the community.
Residents who have not yet taken part and would like to share their experiences or opinions can email astatie-torressantana@fundashonmariadal.org.
The results are intended to better support people living with HIV. The Alliance can also use them to make care better and more accessible.
About the campaign
The HIV walk on Saturday 26 September was the start of a series of activities taking place on the island over the coming months. In this way, the Salú Sin Miedu Alliance is drawing attention to HIV, sexual health and reducing stigma. The campaign focuses on prevention, awareness and making HIV easier to talk about within the community. The organisations share information about the planned activities through their communication channels and social media.
The Salú Sin Miedu Alliance consists of Fundashon Mariadal, GGD Bonaire and EQ Bonaire.
