KRALENDIJK – Tourism Corporation Bonaire (TCB) recently welcomed a group of travel agents from the United States and Canada for a familiarization trip. The aim was to give participants a first-hand introduction to the various aspects of Bonaire as a tourist destination.

The group stayed on Bonaire from 21 to 26 September, as part of the Bonaire Tourism Summit 2026. During their stay, they visited various parts of the island, including the salt flats in the south, the Pekelmeer, Willemstoren, 1000 Steps, Lake Goto and Rincon.

An important part of the programme was visiting various hotels and resorts, where the travel agents met industry representatives and received information about what is on offer for visitors. They also became acquainted with a variety of restaurants and tourist activities.

During the ‘Flash Flamingle Business Speed-Date Edition’ at restaurant Biña, participants held short conversations with local entrepreneurs in the tourism sector. This gave both parties the opportunity to exchange information and explore possibilities for cooperation.

The programme also included a catamaran trip to Bonaire and Klein Bonaire, combined with snorkelling, a beach visit and a dinner at sea. In addition, the travel agents took part in the Bonaire Tourism Summit, which this year had the theme ‘Everything Is Connected’.

A better picture of what Bonaire has to offer

According to TCB director Elesiër Angel, visits like these give travel agents a better picture of what Bonaire has to offer than a presentation alone. The intention is that they can recommend Bonaire to their clients based on their own experience.

TCB thanks the local businesses and organisations that contributed to the programme and hopes that contacts with travel agents in North America can be further strengthened.
