KRALENDIJK – Water and Energy Company Bonaire (WEB) says it has received many questions from customers in recent days about their February 2026 electricity bills, which some say are higher than usual.

According to WEB, this is due to new electricity and drinking water tariffs that took effect on January 1, 2026. These tariffs were set late last year by the Authority for Consumers and Markets (ACM), which under the BES Electricity and Drinking Water Act determines the maximum tariffs each year for Bonaire, St. Eustatius and Saba.

WEB says many customers are only now seeing the increase because the first bills reflecting the new tariffs were sent out at the end of February. The company also points to a reduction in electricity subsidies for 2026 and higher costs for power generation and maintenance of the grid as factors contributing to the higher rates.
