KRALENDIJK – The Korps Politie Caribisch Nederland (KPCN) has certified eight officers for the bike team. With this expansion, the team has been further strengthened and the force now has a sufficient number of deployable bike officers.

The bike team has been in operation since 2009 and consists of officers who have completed a specialized training program. This training was provided by bike instructors Suandy Clarenda and Yael Soliano. During the course, officers learn how to operate effectively and safely as police on bicycle.

Mobile and Rapidly Deployable

A key advantage of the bike team is its high mobility. Officers can move quickly and easily reach locations that are less accessible to vehicles, such as narrow alleyways, busy streets, and areas with large crowds.

This makes the team deployable during, among other things, the cruise season and major events such as Carnival, Dia di Rincon, and the Regatta. Bike officers can also respond swiftly to incidents, moving between locations where roads have been closed off, for example.

Visible and Approachable

In addition, the bike officers have a high-profile presence on the streets and are easily approachable by the public. According to the force, this contributes to greater police visibility and a stronger connection with the community.
