KRALENDIJK – Hospice Kas Flamboyan is in the process of realizing a fifth patient room. The renovation is progressing well and the new room is nearing completion. This expansion responds to the growing demand for end-of-life palliative care on Bonaire.

Since its founding in 2018, the hospice has provided care in a warm and homely environment for people in the final stage of life and their loved ones. In recent times, the demand for hospice care has noticeably increased. In 2025, terminal patients were placed on a waiting list on multiple occasions, as the existing four rooms were unable to meet the demand for care in a timely manner. The fifth room is therefore not only a solution for today, but also an investment in future care capacity.

The new room is being designed with a focus on tranquility, quality of life, and human dignity. With its own veranda and direct access to the back garden, it creates an environment where patients and their loved ones can retreat in complete privacy. The room will be equipped with the full range of basic medical and nursing equipment required for responsible palliative care.

The progress now visible would not have been possible without the dedication and generosity of numerous businesses and individuals. "This expansion has truly been carried by and for the community, and that gives us the strength and confidence to continue our mission," says Danny Rojer, director of Stichting Hospice Kas Flamboyan.

Even in the final phase of the renovation, every contribution remains valuable. Anyone who feels connected to the mission of the hospice is invited to contribute, in whatever form they choose.
