KRALENDIJK – The Slipway Commission, in collaboration with local fishermen’s association Piskabon, will hold a passive demonstration on Tuesday, June 24, to call attention to the ongoing lack of functional slipways for local fishers on Bonaire.

The demonstration will start at 2:00 PM at the Playa stadium and proceed toward Te Amo Beach. At 3:00 PM, participants will present a letter and a collection of signatures to the Island Governor.

Piskabon has repeatedly raised concerns about the shortage of accessible slipways on the island, which limits their ability to safely launch and retrieve fishing boats.

Urgent

The demonstration is intended as a peaceful but urgent appeal for practical infrastructure to support the local fishing sector.
