THE BOTTOM/ORANJESTAD – ING-bank is moving forward with plans to establish a presence on both Saba and St. Eustatius. Work at the future locations is now visibly underway, and a formal opening is expected in November, though the project team declined to give BES-Reporter final confirmation of an exact date.

On Saba, ING signage has already been installed at the future office in Windwardside, a clear sign that the project has entered an advanced stage.

On St. Eustatius, ING is expected to open its office in the Gems building, directly opposite the MCB Bonaire Bank. According to information received by BES-Reporter, the building was selected because it was considered the only suitable location available.

Sources indicate the bank is targeting to open November 24 on Statia and November 26 on Saba. Planned services are expected to include personal and business banking, credit facilities and POS terminals for businesses. Mortgages are not expected to be offered at launch.

USD accounts are also expected to be available, with access to ING’s European SWIFT/BIC infrastructure.
