PHILIPSBURG – Winair has obtained registration under two international aviation safety assessment programs, covering both its ATR 42 and DHC-6 Twin Otter operations.
The St. Maarten-based airline announced Tuesday that it has successfully completed the IATA Operational Safety Audit (IOSA) for its ATR 42 operations and the IATA Standard Safety Assessment (ISSA) for its Twin Otter operations.
According to Winair, it is currently the only airline holding both IOSA and ISSA registrations simultaneously. Preparations for the assessments began in early 2024 and involved several operational areas, including flight and ground operations, maintenance, security and organizational management.
Apart from providing internationally recognized safety credentials for both parts of its fleet, the registrations could also facilitate further codeshare and interline agreements with international airlines.
Winair operates regional services from St. Maarten to several destinations across the Caribbean.
