KRALENDIJK – Flamingo Airport continues its upward trend. In the second quarter of 2025, the airport processed 122,839 passengers — an increase of nearly 12% compared to the same period last year. For the first half of 2025, total passenger growth reached 10.6%, according to data released by Bonaire International Airport (BIA).

Traffic from North America saw the sharpest increase, rising by 41.8% in Q2, largely thanks to American Airlines and new entrant JetBlue. European traffic grew by 5%, supported by the launch of Corendon’s twice-weekly flights to the island.

Inter-island connections were also up by over 3%, mainly due to additional flights by Divi Divi Air and Z Air. JetAir is no longer operating flights to Bonaire this year.

The total number of flights grew by 11.2% in Q2, reaching 3,867 movements. For the year to date, Flamingo Airport has recorded nearly 8,000 flight movements, an 8.9% increase over 2024.

Record numbers

Airport CEO Maarten van der Scheer said the busy high season went smoothly. “If this trend continues, we may surpass the 500,000 passenger mark for the first time in Bonaire’s history,” he stated.
