KRALENDIJK – The appeal in the case concerning the murder of Saba firefighter Sheldon Johnson begins on Thursday, October 8, at the Joint Court of Justice. A.W. and R.V.H. will appear before the Court that day.
Johnson was shot dead on Saba on September 12, 2025. The Public Prosecution Service accused W. of organizing and carrying out the murder. R.V.H. was accused of complicity in the murder. Johnson’s partner was also shot at during the shooting.
In June, the Court of First Instance sentenced A.W. to 28 years in prison. R.V.H. received 21 years. According to the court, it was a carefully prepared and systematically executed murder.
During the earlier trial, camera footage, DNA traces, gunshot residue, and recorded conversations between the suspects were among the evidence discussed. A.W. and R.V.H. denied any involvement in the murder.
The Court will hear the cases on Thursday as pro forma hearings. The substantive hearing of the appeal will follow at a later date.
