
ORANJESTAD, St. Eustatius – The Gwendoline van Putten School hosted a well-attended and energetic Orientation Evening on Thursday, welcoming incoming First Form students and their families. The event offered students a warm introduction to secondary school life, including meetings with mentors and presentations on the school’s values and learning environment.
A key moment of the evening was the official house placement, with students proudly receiving jerseys for their assigned house—Green, Purple, or Yellow. The school also introduced families to Schoology, its digital learning platform, and students returned signed social contracts, committing to mutual respect and cooperation.
Extracurricular opportunities
The program highlighted extracurricular opportunities such as the Robotics Club and Steel Pan Ensemble, and concluded with a friendly team activity that gave a taste of the school’s inter-house spirit. GvP staff expressed excitement about guiding the new cohort through a year of growth and achievement.
